STUDENTS at Bouchier Street Primary School were in fine form for Ride 2 School Day, dressed up with their bikes, scooters and even rollerblades for a parade after arriving safely at school.

“We’re going outside the school!” children shouted excitedly, waving to proud parents and representatives on site on the day, including Mayor Kim O’Keeffe and representatives from the Bicycle Network, Get Mooving Shepparton, and My Ride store owner, Nathan May, who was checking over bikes and scooters for students.

Bicycle Network Ride 2 School coordinator Courtney Mumn said the turnout was unreal. The Bicycle Network works with schools to increase student’s active travel. They also had prizes and giftpacks to give away to participants.

Speaking to the crowd of colourfully dressed children, Mayor O’Keeffe said it was great to see students back at school and to see so many students at Bourchier Street Primary School involved in Ride 2 School Day.

They will have joined more than 350,000 students across Australia who will ride, walk, scoot or skate to school on Friday, March 25.
