ESSENDON AFLW side rocked Shepparton last week, Monday and Tuesday, July 15 and 16, with an open training session and Auskick clinic on Monday evening, and a round of school visits after a training session.

The Auskick clinic didn’t quite go off as planned with the rain forcing players and children inside the rooms for an engaging Q&A session led by superstars Maddy Prespakis, Mia Busch, and Paige Scott, and contributions from the whole team.

The 2024 AFLW season kicks off on Friday, August 24, with Collingwood and Sydney getting the comp underway. The Bombers opener is Saturday, August 31 at Windy Hill against Fremantle. 2024 is Essendon’s third season in the AFLW, and they will be looking to continue their improvement as a squad and play finals this year.

While it was a mixed crowd who came out to see the Bombers women in action, the chance for young girls to see AFLW stars up close, watch their skills on display and interact and get autographs is another great way to showcase the great game of AFL is for everyone.
