Register early for a cleaner country

AUSTRALIANS are being urged to sign up early for the country’s largest community-based environmental event, Clean Up Australia Day, held on Sunday, March 6.

Clean Up Australia Day chairman, Pip Kiernan, says that the pandemic has changed our habits, which have impacted the environment.

“Surges in online shopping, meal delivery services and the use of disposable face masks and coffee cups, means that the environment is feeling the after-effects of the pandemic in ways not seen before,” she said.

Registration is easy, and all community-based volunteers receive a free Clean Up kit that contains gloves, bags, and other resources, with packs for individuals, groups and families available.

If you cannot join a Clean Up, Ms Keirnan urges Aussies to donate to Clean Up Australia. All the funds raised are allocated to the provision of educational resources and clean up materials provided free of charge to the community, school, and youth groups across the nation, year-round.
