WHEN you adopt from a shelter, it goes without saying that you are saving that animal’s life. The impact pet adoption has is far greater than one life, one pet and one family. By adopting, you make space for another needy animal, and you give them the opportunity to become beloved pets.

Shepparton Animal Shelter needs the community’s help to manage the influx of animals surrendered to the shelter, in particular cats and dogs.

Council aims to find new homes for these pets, with all animals being vet checked, desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and treated for worms and fleas.

Greater Shepparton City Council’s director sustainable development, Geraldine Christou said, “With an increased number of cats and dogs at the Animal Shelter, we are encouraging individuals looking for a new pet to consider adoption.”

“Our staff are working hard to find the right home for the right animal and want to ensure each animal’s new home is long lasting and the right fit.”

“If you need help adopting a pet, please reach out to our staff at the Animal Shelter. Prices for dog adoption range from $100 to $465, depending on age, and cats are $100 to adopt. We look forward to connecting these rehomed pets with their forever families.”

Residents can visit the Shepparton Animal Shelter on Wanganui Road to meet the animals available for adoption and to make an application.
