ON SATURDAY October 28, the Filipino Australian & Friends Association gathered for a free barbecue exclusively for FAFA members, funded by FAFA itself.
“It was more than just a BBQ; we enjoyed the day with extra plates of food shared by everyone. We had entrees such as spring rolls, cooked at the venue, and empanadas – fried pastries filled with various ingredients like meat, cheese, and vegetables. For mains, we savoured noodles, grilled and baked fish, and for dessert, our traditional sweet sticky rice, among others. We also offered free soft drinks and water bottles to keep everyone refreshed,” said FAFA member Marieta Martin.
“In addition to the delicious food, we relished the fresh air, engaged in relaxed conversations, and some of us stayed late into the afternoon, cherishing the camaraderie, jokes, stories, and laughter.
“Our picnic took place at the back of Aquamoves in Shepparton, which serves as our main meeting place. This location is ideal as FAFA members come from Shepparton, Euroa, Yarrawonga, and the surrounding areas, making it a central spot for everyone to gather and enjoy each other’s company. We also had the pleasure of good music, hearty laughter, and quality bonding time together.”
