Motor Museum reaches 7th birthday milestone

THIS weekend, something quite special will be kicking off at the Shepparton Motor Museum, an inaugural month long Motor Mechanika event and the celebration of the museum’s 7th birthday.

The Motor Mechanika event will run from February 17 to March 17 and will see 30 local businesses hold stalls and exhibits across various elements of the motoring sector including engine displays, parts and accessory displays, vehicle restorations, sandblasting trucks and even speedboats.

Greg Maskell from Maskell’s Customs & Classics said, “Motor shows focus on the finished product and big crowds come to admire the beautiful restorations and custom builds.

“But there is just as much interest in the process.”

Operations manager, Jenna Buzza said, “For Motor Mechanika we have assembled the best the region has to offer whether it is repair, fabrication, upholstery, chassis and front end, complete custom builds, a classic restoration or a new purchase.

“It’s a celebration of the motoring industry in Shepparton.”

On Sunday, the museum will be celebrating its birthday with car, motorcycle and truck judging, a full market with kids activities including train rides.

Jenna said, “At our birthday celebrations we will have something for the whole family to enjoy so come and help us celebrate.”

Museum curator, Shaun Lenard said, “People who have a passion for motoring excellence also have an appetite for knowledge, they want to understand how the fabrication was done, how a quality paint finish is achieved and how the motor was restored or built.

“We hope this will grow into an annual event that attracts enthusiasts from around Australia who want to see great vehicles but also learn some trade secrets they can apply in their own restorations or custom builds.”

Entry to the Motor Mechanika is $5 per person and includes entry into the Shepparton Motor Museum.
