THE love of books opens the mind to thoughts and experiences with each turn of the page. Whether battling dragons, falling in love over again, being swept into the underworld of urban crime, or taking a trek along the Camino Walk. Books can ignite a passion in us all.

It was Noel Braun’s tales of the Camino Walk that enthralled guests across the Goulburn Valley as he toured his latest book, No Comfort on a Chilly Night. A story of love, ambition, regret and redemption.

The passion for writing lived in Noel for a long time, though it wasn’t until he retired that he published his first two novels, Friend and Philosopher in 2004 and Whistler Street in 2007. After the tragic death of his beloved wife Maris, Noel’s writing took a turn when he published the first of four memoirs, No Way to Behave at a Funeral. Three explorations of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela soon followed: The Day Was Made for Walking, I Guess I’ll Just Keep on Walking and Keep Pressing On Brother.

No Comfort on a Chilly Night is a fictionalised work inspired by Noel’s working life and his travels abroad.
